About my surveys - FAQs

How do staff complete the survey?

My surveys are carried out on-line using SurveyMonkey.   

   

Your staff will receive an email with a link to the survey which is quick and easy to complete.  Staff who do not have email addresses can be given a link or I can provide paper copies for them to complete and return.

 

Is it confidential?
Yes.  As the survey is carried out using SurveyMonkey no one in your organisation will have access to the individual responses so your staff can be assured of its confidentiality.

When I report on the results I will only provide summarised responses and even then I will only do so when six or more people have responded. 

​

I will provide you with all responses to the text questions where staff have offered ideas - but these responses will not be attributable to any individual.  Responses will be provided verbatim but I will use my discretion and remove names where I believe that to be appropriate to protect individuals.

 

What if there is a low response rate?

You cannot, and should not, force people to complete the survey.  However, SurveyMonkey allows me to send reminders to people with the link embedded so between us I am confident that we can get the best response for you.

 

Response rates can be low for many reasons;  it may be that people don't trust its confidentiality or don't think it will make any difference.   That is why it is so important to plan how you will communicate and use the outcomes.  A quick "You Said, We Did" response can reap benefits in many ways!

How do you report on the results?

The simplest report provides you with a pdf file showing the outcomes to each question in a graphical format along with any comments that people have offered.   I can also provide reports in Excel format so you can lift the graphs into your own documents for reporting back to staff.   If you repeat the survey in future years I can report on trends.

If you wish I can undertake an independent analysis of the results - both the numeric and text responses - identifying common themes and key ideas for improvement providing rich information to feed into your organsation's self evaluation and improvement plan.

If you wish, I will happily arrange a time to discuss the results with you in person.    I can also present the key outcomes to your staff, your senior management team and your board. 

  

What if we want to explore the results further?

I can happily arrange focus groups to explore the outcomes and add greater richness to the results - or help you to identify any underlying issues or potential actions.

  

How can I make best use of a staff survey?

My premium survey is structured around the criteria of the EFQM Excellence Model - an internationally recognised Benchmark of organisational maturity.  The results from the survey can be triangulated with the outcomes from my online management review and your wider business outcomes;  focus groups explore and validate the overall findings to provide an in depth assessment of your achievements and rich input to your improvement plan.   It also provides a Benchmark of your organisation's maturity that extends beyond your own sector.
